What a yes actually means
Dear The Second Yes,
You both said yes. That is not a guarantee. It is not a proposal. It is not even a promise. It is five minutes asking, quietly, whether there might be a few more.
That question deserves an answer.
What the yes means
It means you were present enough for someone to want to keep talking to you. In five minutes, with a stranger, on a screen, that is not a small thing. Most of the world never gets that far.
It does not mean you are compatible. It does not mean it will be easy. It means the door is open. What you do now is walk through it or you do not.
What to do with it
Write first. You both said yes; nobody is playing it cool here. Write within the hour, while the date is still in the room with you. Not a paragraph, not a question followed by three more questions. Just something true about the five minutes you just had.
"That was a good one" is a message. "The thing you said about your sister made me laugh" is a better one, because it says you were actually listening.
What to do if nothing comes to mind
Say so. "I don't know what to say first, so I'm just saying hello" is a message that works because it is honest, and honesty is what got you here.
You have already done the hard part. The yes was the hard part. This is the easier part, or it should be, once you stop treating it like a test.
It is not a test. It is a conversation. Start it.
